After a very long election season, I’m proud to report that I was re-elected to the Torrance City Council last night, while receiving the highest number of votes! I’m truly humbled by the support I garnered from every corner of the community and I sincerely appreciate the voters and volunteers who believe in me enough to have made this happen.
I’d also like to congratulate Mayor Pat Furey, City Clerk Rebecca Poirier, and City Treasurer Dana Cortez on their re-election and newcomers George Chen and Aurelio Mattucci on their electoral victories. I look forward to working with them during the next four years to solve the issues that come before us.
To the candidates who did not win, I’d like to thank them for putting themselves out in the public forum. It’s not easy to be in the spotlight, but their efforts and ideas played a part in the democratic process and made our City stronger. I’d especially like to thank outgoing Councilmembers Kurt Weideman and Heidi Ashcraft for their time and dedication during their Council terms; their expertise will be missed.
During my next term, I’ll continue to focus on public safety and infrastructure, while working to bring technology companies to Torrance, especially to fill the vacant former Toyota campus. I look forward to working with you on these and other endeavors and hope to have you involved in the work before the City.
